What does the Archeologist do?

Blobfish’s “Primal Dread DLC - Out Now!” post: “We wanted to GRANT you the pleasure of playing the Archeologist. Dig up crates from dig sites and get stronger with every crate.” Source: Out Now announcement.

Dig sites and crates are described in that blurb; spawn rules and UI markers are not in Steam posts.

What isn’t published yet

As of 2026-11-04, Steam news does not confirm dig-site counts per wave, channel duration, material or XP modifiers, starting weapons, tags, or unlock steps. Values live on the in-game character sheet. Track unlocks on the unlock-all-characters guide.

• Our read: If your in-game trait reduces normal material drops, plan Harvesting around that—verify on the character sheet; Steam news does not state drop penalties for the Archeologist.
• Patch v1.2.0.1 fixed a Survivor co-op crash when several players picked crate rewards at once—not an Archeologist fix. Coordinate crate picks in multiplayer.

How does Evolution fit?

Evil Empire’s launch post describes Evolution as a two-way stat (Mecha vs Mutation) with different enemy behavior—not a character-specific rule.
